Ski Villars

Just a short transfer from Geneva Airport, Villars is loved by all who visit, especially families. Imagine the view - Mont Blanc and the jagged teeth of the Dents du Midi on the skyline. Mind-blowing, and great skiing too, for all abilities, if you can take your eyes off the scenery.

Villars has a highly-recommended ski school so beginners and improvers will… improve, rapidly with gentle and effective coaching. The nursery slopes in the village and the wide blues of Bretaye are excellent training grounds. There's plenty to do for intermediate skiers who will love the challenging reds, Chaux Ronde and Grand et Petit Chamossaire. Top skiers will enjoy the long descent from the Roc d'Orsay and another from Croix des Chaux.

There's a two-way lift link to Les Diablerets with its wonderful glacier as well with a 14km run back down to base, and snowboarders will enjoy the snowparks, especially Isenau, as well as lots of boarder-friendly terrain

Après-ski Villars

Clustered round the centre of the village, there's a pleasing range of shops, tea rooms, cafés, piano bars and restaurants. It's lively in The Alchimiste and in Charlie's or you could check out the Hararnbee Café. For night-time fun, the Plaza el Gringo with its bar and discotheque is the place to go if you're not an early-to-bed early-to-rise type. For more local colour, folklore evenings are regularly staged.

Non-skiers could take advantage of a 3 or 6-day Pass Sports, which allows you to travel on trains and gondolas as well as make use the swimming pool and indoor skating rink at the Centre des Sports de Villars. Or why not take a trip to Les Bains de Lavey thermal spa, Montreux or Lake Geneva, only an hour away by train?

As well as ice skating, there are ice hockey matches to watch at the rink, there's a 2km sledge run from Col de Soud, winter hiking, paragliding and some lovely wellness spas.

Perhaps not as well known as other Swiss resorts, Villars should be with all it has to offer. Let us fix up a holiday for you. Go Villars, we say!

Gary's Little Gems

"A great family ski resort which is ideal skiing for beginners to intermediates, Villars is easy to get to and does not have the high prices associated with its more famous Swiss neighbours. The friendly English-speaking ski school has a great reputation and the resort is easy to get to at only 1.5 hours from Geneva."
