Skiing Holidays in Grindelward, Switzerland
If you want dramatic scenery, then choose Grindelwald, lying beneath the north face of the legendary Eiger, with views of the Wetterhorn, Monch and Jungfrau and other peaks too - nothing can match it for breathtaking beauty. It shares its main slopes with nearby Wengen and has a lovely sunny area called First, which, coincidentally, is perfect for beginners! (Apparently it's pronounced like fierce).
Intermediate skiers and boarders will enjoy the descents to the village, with some wide runs to boost confidence, meandering reds, and a black down to the gondola base. Snowboarders will adore the obstacle park and the unbeatable Schreckfeld Superpipe, one of Switzerland's largest half-pipes.
Access to the Kleine Scheidegg and Männlichen, directly below the Eiger, means you can thrill yourself skinny on the world-famous Lauberhorn run, of World Cup downhill race fame.
Above all, take in the scenery as you go, from high alpine peaks, through forests and across snow-covered meadows. Stunning!
A holiday in Grindelwald is excellent for non-skiers as well as après-skiers. With a non-skiers lift pass you can enjoy many lovely mountain walks. Tobogganing is a Grindelwald speciality, with the run down from the Faulhorn the longest in the Alps at 15kms. There's skating, snow shoeing, pool tables, sleigh rides, tubing, a climbing wall and a state-of-the-art sports centre with swimming pool.
As for the nightlife - you can choose to dance into the wee small hours at the Mescalero disco or the Plaza nightclub, listen to live bands in the Challi-Bar or spend a more relaxing time in one of the many restaurants like the lovely Cava Cellar or enjoy 5* dining at La Pendule d'Or.
For a truly Alpine winter holiday experience, choose Grindelwald and GetSkiing to take you there at a reasonable price
