Skiing Holidays in Valmorel, France
What a delightful place Valmorel is on the forest's edge, all Alpine chalets, a village square and courtyards. Perfect if you like somewhere picturesque and traditional to stay when you're on a ski holiday, a cosy place. It's 8 hours drive from Calais or only an hour's transfer from Chambery. The third option is a train to Moutiers with a 40 minute shuttle bus. There - don't say we don't give you travel choices at GetSkiing!
There's a huge variety of runs, equally divided between green, blue, red and black, so you've a great chance to progress when you get your ski legs. There are some super-wide motorways for novices, and a couple of areas exclusively for children, including a family snowzone with a snowpark and a place for picnics.
Up the Altispace chairlift you have access to great intermediate skiing and you could pop over to St François, Longchamp or Doucy and come home to a few red runs down the Gollet. Snowboarders can piste-ride to their heart's content.
If you want your hair raised there's always Mottet with awesome moguls, or Combe du Riondet, and mile upon mile of wonderful powder snow for off-piste and boarders.
This is a charming pedestrianised village which always makes for a relaxed feel and there are plenty of bars, restaurants and bistros to hang out in. You must have a fondue at some point - try Le Petit Savoyard. Have a quiet drink at La Cordée, Hôtel du Bourg or, if you're feeling lively, choose Jimbo Lolos and go on to L'After discothèque.
If you're short of something to do simply walking along to Les Avanchers, parapenting, airboarding and tobogganing should keep you occupied and then you could relax in the fitness centre and have a sauna and massage.
There's a cinema which sometimes shows English films and there's a weekly open air market.
Valmorel? You'll love it! We'd love to book your holiday for you, here at GetSkiing.
Gary's Little Gems
"Ideal for families as the resort is pretty and traffic free and you can ski back to the accommodation in most cases. The skiing is ideally suited to beginners and early intermediates. There's a good range of apartments, hotels and a lovely Club Med property where everything is included in the price. And
how about the evening floodlit skiing for something magical?"
