Lake Tahoe

Lake Tahoe is home to a number of different ski areas, which all combine to make it one of the best areas in which to go skiing on US soil.

Heavenly is the largest ski resort in the Lake Tahoe region, and is located on the south shores of the lake itself.

With access to plenty of top class skiing - made possible in part by the fact that the resort operates a number of snow-making machines to keep the pistes in prime condition - the resort is fantastic option for skiers of all levels and houses a number of impressive hotels where you can relax in luxurious surroundings.

Heavenly is ideal for skiers of all abilities, with gentle beginner slopes for those who are learn the ropes right to through to hugely challenging black runs - like the 'Widowmaker'.

Alongside the slopes, there is plenty do within the resort itself - from casinos to nightclubs - whilst the scenery is some of the best around, with the chance to take in views of the lake but also to marvel at the 'desert' in Nevada.

Whilst Heavenly may be the main destination for people skiing in the Lake Tahoe area, there are also others that you might want to visit, such as Palisades Tahoe, around 15 minutes to the west of Tahoe City.

Further top class skiing is available here on the surrounding mountains which are packed with world renowned snow and there is no shortage of options for skiers of all levels who pay a visit - an invariably wish to return in the future.

There is no shortage of apres-ski available during a trip to Heavenly - some of which is somewhat unique when it comes to a ski holiday with the resort being home to a number of luxury casinos. Alongside this, expect to find plenty of bars and restaurants where you can head on an evening, some of which will provide the chance to sample live music.

When not on the slopes, there are various things to do on a trip to Heavenly, which include a number of spas offering various treatments, a cinema, skating rink and the different casinos.
