Courchevel

If you've never been on a skiing holiday before, you'll certainly fall in love with everything about it if you start at Courchevel - and if you've already been there, we don't need to tell you how totally brilliant it is, do we?

For the uninitiated: Courchevel is one of the jewels in Europe's ski resorts crown, spread over four levels, with immaculate pistes catering for every sort of skier and snowboarder, all linked with a free bus service - and access to the whole of Les 3 Vallées - except you probably won't ever want to leave Courchevel. Enough said? Possibly - but here's more.

North-facing slopes mean the snow quality is often the best around. The four levels, commonly known by their altitudes (1850, 1650, 1550 and 1300) though renamed Le Praz, Village, Moriond and Courchevel, have gentle to whizzy nail-biting runs, pretty woodland areas and often stunning views of Mont Blanc.

Apres-Ski in Courchevel

Courchevel is popular with regular folk like you and me but also the rich and famous so don't be surprised if you bump into one or two celebs - preferably in the bar, not on the slopes! - particularly in prestigious Courchevel 1850. (At time of writing, Prince William and his family have just spent a happy few days there). Moriond is quieter, a little off the beaten track, and has a vast watersports centre. Courchevel Village is another more peaceful backwater, warm and welcoming. La Praz is an old style rustic village yet still has great little restaurants and bars, as do all the villages.

If skiing and snowboarding isn't enough for you, or you're not participating at all, how about taking a walk along specially cleared tracks between the village or trying out ice-climbing or indulging in a little culture with a classical concert, or going on a helicopter flight, or shop 'til you drop in one of the designer boutiques…

Yep - Courchevel needs a whole website of its own - why not just book a holiday there with GetSkiing and discover its many delights for yourself?

Gary's Little Gems in Courchevel

The resort spends a fortune on keeping its runs in tip-top condition - amazingly, the pistes are groomed twice every night, so even when snowfall isn't as good as hoped, ski conditions are still superb. Perhaps that's why hotels can be expensive in Courchevel! Stay in one of our fabulous chalets instead for a great value holiday in an incredible place.
