Arosa is a popular Alpine resort that sits in the Schanfigg Valley and is famed for both its stunning scenery and a wide range of year-round leisure activities.

It’s during the winter months however that Arosa is particularly popular, with more than 200km of slopes – including the linked Lenzerheide resort - that provide first rate skiing for beginners and experts alike.

In fact, almost half of the slopes are suitable for beginners, making Arosa the perfect option for those who are taking to the slopes for the first time.

That’s not to say that the more experienced skiers should feel left out, with plenty of on-piste action that is geared towards those who would class their skills as either intermediate or expert.

Indeed for experts, the Silvano Beltrametti World Cup course - with a gradient of up to 66% - is a challenge that is well worth exploring.

As well as some 70km of pistes, there is a huge freeride area as well as a large amount of winter walking tails for when you want a break from the slopes.

Off Piste Skiing in Arosa

If you’re a beginner when it comes to off-piste skiing then Arosa could be the ideal place in which to try it for the first time.

Whilst there is ample opportunity for the experienced skier to head into the deeper powder snow, there is also plenty of off-piste action that will suit the newbies – with the chance to head briefly off the main slopes in order to try it for the first time.

It’s possible to book a guide at the ski school who can provide assistance.

Family Skiing in Arosa

Arosa is particularly good for those who are travelling with children in tow- not just because the location is nice and peaceful but also because of the facilities that are geared towards the smaller skiers.

That includes a special area just for children as well as child friendly ski schools, where youngsters can work with experienced guides to help get them up to speed on the slopes.

Apres-Ski in Arosa

It’s not exactly party central on an evening in Arosa, but there is still plenty to keep you occupied after a day on the slopes.

There are plenty of bars where you can relax with a cool drink, with Chilihütta being popular thanks to the fact it has one of the longest bars in the area.

The sunny terrace of Kuhbar an der Tschuggenhütte also draws people in during an afternoon, primarily because you can relax on the side of the slopes under the sun.

Non-Skiing Activities in Arosa

When you fancy a break from the slopes, there’s still plenty to keep you busy in Arosa, with a range of other activities being available.

If you fancy exploring the local area then there is a huge range of winter walking trails that provide the chance to embrace the local scenery, or you could book onto a snowshoeing tour for a unique guided trip.

An open-air ice-rink offers the chance to show your skating skills or to sample curling, whilst there is a number of toboggan runs that are ideal for those who have a need for speed and want to enjoy an adrenaline fuelled ride down the mountain side.

Unless you have a fear of heights, hot air balloon rides or paragliding offer a unique chance to see the scenic beauty of the resort from the air.
