Mont Tremblant

Now here's something different - not just a ski holiday in Canada, but a ski holiday that's not in the Rockies and is instead on the east side of North America, with a shorter flight time from the UK.

Mont Tremblant is a year-round resort in the French-speaking province of Quebec, deep in the Laurentian Mountains and about 80 miles north of Montreal. The resort features more than 90 trails spread across four zones that span in excess of 650 acres in four zones, with a modern lift system that grants easy access to the slopes.

There's truly something for everyone here, overlooked by the beautiful peak of Mont Tremblant - all 900m of it.

Beginners have a great range from the l'Alonquin Trail and the 4-mile long Nansen to little gems like the Petite Bonheur. For a great experience, intermediate skiers could take the Lowel Thomas chairlift then drop down the Beauchemain, whilst expert skiers might want to take the Duncan Express lift and try the Geant, or the scarily long black runs in The Edge, like Les Bouleaux and No. 47 Laurentienne.

Three terrain parks - Adrénaline, Progression and Evolution - offer different levels of freestyle fun for boarders and adventurous skiers alike.

Go Tremblant! Yes, it does mean trembling in English. Perhaps that's your legs after a long day on the slopes?

There's fun to be had at La Forge, 'the perfect place for trendy après-ski,' and Le Shack, a Resto-Bar with a sunny terrace on Place St-Bernard. There's also a micro brasserie called La Diable which serves devilishly good beer, then, for hard party people, Le P'tit Caribou stays open until 3am and is said to be the wildest ski bar in North America.

There's also various eateries that provide the chance to enjoy a culinary journey around the globe, but you'll want to ensure you sample some of the many delights for which Quebec is famous.

Non-Skiing Activities in Mont Tremblant

A range of different activities are available during a break in Mont Tremblant, ensuring that you'll never be short of things to do even when you decide to take a break from the slopes.

Winter-based activities include everything from snowmobiling and snow tubing to ice skating, dog sledding and sleigh rides. Those who want to sample an alternative type of skiing could also head off on a cross-country excursion.

A swimming pool with spa, a casino and a leisure centre are also within the resort.
