La Tania

Hey, La Tania - it's as jolly as its name suggests and is right at the heart of Les 3 Vallées, in between Courchevel and Méribel, developed into a fully-fledged ski resort for the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. It offers superb value family-friendly skiing holidays, with easy access to the whole of the area if you're feeling that energetic. (You'd have to be feeling pretty energetic to ski the whole 600kms!)

Hooray - it's a ski-in ski-out resort so none of that lugging of heavy equipment to get to the slopes. If you fancy venturing further afield, take the super-duper gondola to the pistes of Courchevel 1300 or 1850 or the chairlift to Méribel, with all the different experiences they have to offer.

La Tania starts with gentle nursery slopes, progresses to lovely long blue runs through the trees, next come the reds and, to top it all, wicked black runs, mind-blowing moguls and challenging couloirs.

La Tania is a pretty village in its woodland setting, and is car-free which is great, especially if you have kids. While a small place, it's well-served with all the basic amenities, restaurants and bars, including the Pub Ski-Lodge which has live music on a Tuesday night. Le Farçon was awarded a Michelin Star in 2006 if you're in to cordon bleu cookery rather than take-away pizzas.

It's just the place for families and anyone looking for reasonably-priced accommodation yet with access to other more swanky places.
