La Rosiere

Rosy by name, rosy by nature! Perfect if you're looking for a smaller, quieter resort away from the hustle and bustle of larger neighbours such as Tignes, Les Arcs or Val d' Isère. La Rosière's pistes are pleasant and wide and the sun invariably shines so it's an excellent choice for families. Others will in no way be disappointed because, apart from the resort itself, it's part of the San Bernado ski area with the Italian resort of La Thuile offering a whole different dimension.

The heights range from 1200m to 2650m and there are almost 160kms of piste to choose from, with around 80 runs, with nursery slopes and plenty of intermediate blues and reds. It's proving to be the ideal place for ski-returners who need the scope to try out their skills again without being too challenged. For super-skiers there are 15 blacks too, and patrolled off-piste in the Zittieux area as well as opportunities for free skiing further afield.

Boarders hoorah - lots of powder snow around with natural gullies and half-pipes and two snow parks with all those things you wish for like tables, jumps and rails.

Apres-Ski in La Rosiere

The resort is truly family-friendly and has been awarded 'Famille Plus Montagne' status in recognition of this. There are weekly firework displays, sledging and torchlight skiing, and the villages are alive with friendly St. Bernard dogs (their name taken from the area).

It is made up of two villages - the original La Rosière Centre and the newer La Rosière chalets of Les Eucherts. These are linked by a lovely level path through the trees, the free bus service or the pistes above. And what views! Three of Europe's iconic peaks, yes, three - the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and the Monterosa - a triple whammy of spectacular landscape.

While La Rosière is generally quiet, there are still bars and lively nightlife if that's your preference. The Kitzbuhel bar in Les Eucherts has bowling, pool tables and live music and there's the Moo Bar lounge and nightclub.

A true family favourite. Why not give yourselves a treat and book a skiing holiday to La Rosière with GetSkiing?

Gary's Little Gems in La Rosiere

La Rosière is ideal for families with some lovely south facing runs. It's one of the only French resorts able to offer heli-skiing if you're up for a thrill - and what a thrill that is! And for a spot of history, it's alleged to be the place where Hannibal crossed the Alps with his elephants. If elephants can do it, surely skiing must be easy by comparison? Try skiing to La Thuile in Italy for the day and have a lovely bowl of pasta for lunch.
