Hinterglemm

Just 90 minutes from Salzburg airport, Saalbach and next door Hinterglemm are in the centre of a whole ring of 2000m peaks forming a natural circuit of pistes, 270kms of them, served by 70 state-of-the-art lifts.

It's perfect for the intermediate skier or boarder wanting that buzz of achievement. In fact, it's even an achievement to remember the name of the circuit - Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. Ouch! Console yourself by stopping for refreshments at one of the many alpine huts along the way.

Nursery slopes are smack bang in the centre of both villages so access is easy for kids and people with jelly legs. Saalbach and Hinterglemm are well-provided with ski and snowboarding school for learners and improvers. For more advanced skiers, a favourite run is the long, smooth cruise down to Leogang village.

Apres-Ski in Hinterglemm

Saalbach is the larger of the two villages but both are charming centres with quirky shops and vibrant cafés. Saalbach Hinterglemm skiing holidays always include lively, traditional Austrian après-ski - that's a must. The fun starts even before you descend to village level at bars like the popular Hinterhagalm in Saalbach (rated one of the best après-ski venues in Europe) and the Goastall in Hinterglemm. You too can dance in your ski boots.

For the more active, there's the whole gamut of alpine activities - sleigh rides, tobogganing, ice skating, curling, snowshoeing, cross country, snowtubing, snowmobiling and a speciality - archery, where you can track down life-like model animals.

Saalbach Hinterglemm - for families, for everyone. People return year after year for a very good reason: it's brilliant here. Let GetSkiing book you a skiing holiday and you'll see for yourselves.

Gary's Little Gems in Hinterglemm

A genuine world class resort that regularly holds World Cup races, including the World Championships. Skiing in this great resort has just been extended into Leogang and Fieberbrunn, making a total of 270 kms and 70 lifts and skiing for all levels.

Saalbach is an attractive village centre with a great range of quality hotels and good night life. Hinterglemm which is about 5 kms up the road is quieter and slightly cheaper. Highly recommended for families and groups of mixed abilities.
