Filzmoos

Filzmoos sits in the Amade region of Austria, right in the heart of one of Europe's largest ski areas.

Located at the foot of the Bischofsmutze mountain and close to the Dachstein glacier, the resort is ideal for the less experienced skiers, who can enjoy the opportunity to improve their skills against the scenic backdrop that surrounds the traditional mountain village.

Much smaller than many resorts, Filzmoos caters mainly for beginner and intermediate level skiers who will find plenty to keep them entertained - from the nursery slopes close to the centre of the village to the more tricky red runs that wind their way down the slopes.

Options are limited for experienced skiers, but the black run provides a challenge that is worth taking on and that can be sampled whilst enjoying the wider area.

Given the small size of the resort, you can expect to find little in the way of queues and uncluttered slopes.

However, Filzmoos is part of the Ski Amade lift pass area, which opens up hundreds of kilometres of pistes in other nearby resorts.

Off Piste Skiing in Filzmoos

There is off piste skiing to be found close to the Black Run although visitors may prefer the challenge provided by the expert options in some of the other resorts covered by Filzmoos' lift pass.

There is also the option of taking on the challenge of some cross country skiing.

Family Skiing in Filzmoos

Given the wide open nature of the slopes, and the fact that those slopes are nice and quiet, Filzmoos is the ideal option for a family ski trip away from the crowds.

Special events for children are a regular occurrence.

Apres-Ski in Filzmoos

Après ski in Filzmoos is largely based around the hotels, which is where the majority of bars and restaurants are to be found at the end of a day on the slopes.

However, that's not to say you'll only spend the evening in your hotel or chalet, with a selection of restaurants that offer both traditional Austrian cuisine and international fare across the village and bars that offer live music and entertainment.

Non-Skiing Activities in Filzmoos

Non-ski activities in Filzmoos include toboggan runs and sleigh rides whilst there is a large network of walking trails that bring people in during the summer but can also be enjoyed in winter.

A hot air balloon ride in the skies above the resort is also an experience that will live long in the memory.
