About Fairmont Banff Springs

The iconic Hotel Fairmont Banff Springs is part of Canadian history. Built in conjunction with the laying of the Canadian Pacific Railway back in 1888, the hotel became the destination for many wealthy Europeans over the years. Also, known as the Castle in the Rockies, it was modelled on a Scottish baronial castle, and in keeping with the historical theme, has grand thrones carved from wood and suits of armour dotted around the building.

Hotel Fairmont Banff Springs offers Canadian luxury at its best with a host of indoor and outdoor hot tubs and swimming pools, a bowling alley, numerous restaurants and bars, a ballroom and marble floored lounges. The shuttle bus to the three mountains ski area stops outside the hotel, and a 10-15-minute walk takes you to Banff town centre, alternatively, a shuttle bus takes about 2 minutes. The hotel boasts 764 beautifully decorated luxury rooms. Some of the hotels guests of honour include the likes of King George VI, Winston Churchill and Marilyn Monroe.

The hotel boasts the award-winning Willow Stream Spa with mineral pool, massage and beauty treatments-free with any treatment and a selection of 20 in-house shops. The spa was built to represent the hot springs that attracted travellers to the resort over 100 years ago and is home to Canada’s highest natural hot springs pool, with decorated waterfalls.

The town of Banff is in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and is a popular ski area. It is the link town for the three ski areas of Banff Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village and Lake Louise, together featuring more than 200 runs covering 125 miles of slopes. The skiing here is suitable for all standards and abilities. From gentle nursery slopes for beginners to intermediate runs and even some black runs for those wanting a challenge. The scenery in the area is stunning and will be remembered for a long time.
