Zürs - last in the skiing resort alphabet but one of the first in top class Austrian skiing holidays, closely linked to Lech, where the rich and famous like to play in the snow. Quality and exclusivity is to be found in Zürs, but do not fear, GetSkiing has access to accommodation that offers great value for money, so you can mix with royalty without paying royally-hiked prices.

Well-groomed pistes in the Lech-Zürs area extend over 117kms, best for beginners and intermediate skiers and boarders.

Zürs has the edge over Lech if you're a complete beginner. For those craving more excitement, there is ready access to tougher terrain in St. Anton and Stuben. However, it's hard to beat the Arlberg White Ring circuit, now known as the Madloch Tour. It could have been called the Blue and Red Ring after the runs: 22 kms round the villages and slopes of Zürs, Oberlech, Stubenbach and Zug. There aren't even too many flat sections, so boarders can have fun too.

High up on the Flexen pass, experienced skiers and boarders have the chance to experience unbeatable off-piste in the Arlberg and heli-skiing if conditions allow.

Apres-Ski in Zürs

Zürs has a quieter vibe for après-ski - that's to say, quieter than Lech or crazy all-night-party place, St Anton. It's possible to get to those places (and back!) if you wish, by ski bus or taxi, but there's plenty on offer in Zürs itself. It's a civilised resort!

As is common in Austria, most of the Zürs bars and restaurants are in the hotels. The Alpenhof has a fab piano bar or you could pop along to the Vernissage bar gallery.

For other activities, think shopping - think exclusive shopping, think, 'I must not spend all my holiday money on the first day.' You can also enjoy a good game of squash or go walking on the Flexenpass which sounds cheaper. There's also the usual Tyrolean range of snowshoeing, horse-drawn sleigh rides, tobogganing, ice skating (Zürs has a natural rink) and ice fall climbing - hopefully the climbing without the falls.

For a taste of the good life in Zürs, at reasonable prices, let GetSkiing arrange a skiing holiday for you.

Gary's Little Gems in Zürs

Zürs is right in the middle of the world famous Arlberg ski area, which gives access to 360 kms of some of the best skiing in the world. The immediate ski area in Zürs is ideal for beginners and intermediates. For the really adventurous experts skiers there is lots of off piste in nearby Stuben and even helicopter skiing.
